Project Engineer – Energy Efficiency & Energy Management (M/F)

This Project Engineer is a core position to support the Energy Efficiency business line growth in Portugal. Under the coordination of the Project Manager, you will be involved in designing and sizing energy efficiency and decarbonization solutions for big buildings, industrial facilities and complex infrastructures. You will strongly participate in the sales, design, and project execution phases. You will as well actively support the execution of projects or services in terms of technical and energy expertise (performing measurement and verification services in the context of energy performance contracting). This role implicates the continuous interaction and cooperation with the team of energy efficiency in Portugal ensuring the highest quality in project or service development processes, including managing internal stakeholders and transferring projects to service or implementation teams. It is obviously part of the challenge do the coordination with external partners (customers, installers, or engineering offices) and actively monitoring new trends, technologies, and solutions at the forefront of the market.

Project Engineer Responsibilities

Work closely with facility managers, facility and manufacturing engineers, contractors, suppliers, and energy engineers to encourage energy efficiency practices in their facilities

Support energy efficiency strategy within Portugal Business Unit promoting the continual improvement approach of Strategic Energy Management at large industrial and complex infrastructures scale Identify efficiency opportunities, calculate energy savings, maintain customer relationships, and deliver presentations

Identify various types of sustainability-related measures, support consultancy on environmental, green buildings and well-being certifications, manage and implement certification systems (e.g. LEED, BREEAM, ISO 500001, etc.)

Qualification & Education

Degree, preferably, in engineering with a specialization in mechanical, thermal, energy or environmental engineering

Skills

Strong understanding and knowledge of systems such as HVAC, heat recovery, renewable energy, building management systems, automation and industrial processes;

Experience in the sustainability consultancy advisory, energy management systems, green building industry will be considered a plus;

A good general understanding of projects from a technical and organizational point of view is required;

Experience with developing technical documentation, evaluating subcontractor proposals, and identifying and quantifying risks for design/build projects;

Ability to manage multiple projects and multiple customer relationships;

Excellent communication skills;

First language Portuguese and mandatory fluency in English.

Experience

3+ years combined experience in energy efficiency consultancy, HVAC project design and implementation, or energy audits in industrial or service buildings
